£42.4 Million Roofing Programme to Transform Homes Across Sheffield. 

RE:GEN Yorkshire and East Midlands have been successfully awarded a landmark five year investment by Sheffield City Council to deliver housing improvements across the city. 

A major £42.4 million Pitched Roofing Programme is set to launch across Sheffield from late 2025 to 2030, marking one of the city’s largest housing improvement investments in recent years.

The ambitious programme will deliver the renewal of main roof coverings to a diverse range of properties including houses, bungalows, flats, maisonettes, and sheltered accommodation, ensuring residents benefit from warmer, safer, and more energy-efficient homes.

Works will include:

  • Removal and replacement of existing roof coverings
  • Structural inspections and repairs
  • Installation of new under-felt, battens, tiles or slates
  • Upgraded fascias, gutters, and downpipes
  • Enhanced loft insulation
  • Installation of Solar PV panels to support Sheffield’s carbon reduction and sustainability goals

Cllr Douglas Johnson, Chair of the Housing Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council, said: “As a proud landlord, one of the largest in the country, Sheffield City Council is pushing on with vital work to modernise much of our housing stock. We want our tenants to live in homes which are clean, safe, warm and fit for the future by adhering to the highest efficiency standards.
