The RE:GEN Academy

The RE:GEN Academy is a first of its kind, dedicated to developing YOU as an individual.

The Vision

To futureproof our business by growing and developing our own talent. We want to set a best-in-class standard for employee development and nurturing, to share with our partners and supply chain to help tackle construction skills shortages head on.

How Does It Work?

We know that an apprentice’s first two years with us are crucial for embedding the right skills and work ethos, but the first 12 months even more so.

Through the RE:GEN Academy we offer a clear and structured pathway for apprentices to continue their learning development throughout their journey with us in order to create the highest calibre of candidates possible.

By crafting bespoke development plans for each apprentice, we create a culture where everyone can thrive.

We are people-first, so we spend time developing you as an individual as well giving you a real insight into the role you’ve chosen and helping you to understand the “RE:GEN way” as a top tier example within construction practice.

With our unique approach, we’re paving the way for the next generation of our workforce to truly succeed.

The RE:GEN Academy is based on three key areas of learning:

Who Is It For?

Anyone.

If you’ve ever thought about a career in construction, or know that you want to learn in a more practical and hands on environment then an apprenticeship with RE:GEN and entering into the RE:GEN Academy might be the route for you.

No matter your age or previous experience, the academy is built in a way that provides success for all of our graduates.

If you feel that you would benefit from additional support to help reach a decision about whether an apprenticeship is the right fit for you, you could sign up to a Pre-Employment Bootcamp with our partners RE:geon Training.

This course aims to get you ‘apprentice-ready.’

What types of roles does the Academy offer?

We actively recruit for a variety of apprenticeships throughout the year, covering a mix of on-site and office-based roles. We’re very proud of the fact that over 10% of our workforce are apprentices. To see all of our current opportunities, click here.

Below are some of the different roles we could offer as apprenticeships:

Meet The Team

Lee Francis
Founder / Visionary

The RE:GEN Academy was born through a desire to grow our future workforce by developing individuals, rather than particular skill sets to enable real decision makers and blue sky thinkers to emerge in the world of construction. Through successful partnerships with RE:geon Training and collaborations with a range of academic institutes across the region, we have created a fresh, exciting and completely unique opportunity for emerging talent. While the focus remains on growing our next generation of “RE:GEN ready” workforces in the immediate, we hope to be able to widen our offer out to clients and supply chain in the not-too-distant future.

Scott Emmerson
Academy Coach

With 18 years of experience in construction and prior experience in professional football, I’m bringing my learnings and experiences from both roles into the academy, cultivating a culture around continual progression and growth – we strive for progress, not perfection! I work alongside the apprentice’s line managers to devise and coordinate the personal development plans ensuring they’re right for the individual but also to know how they feed into the wider growth strategies and success of the business. Working collaboratively means that we all benefit from this uplift in progression and determination to reach higher standards for our business and the industry as a whole.

I really liked the fact that youare out on site doing the job. This is a BIG change from just doing theory and classroom-based learning. I would definitely recommend the academy to other trainees. The skills you learn are even transferrable to other industries even if you decide construction isn’t for you.

The one-to-one training and development is totally different to the apprenticeship I completed when I was 17 as a baker. The help and support from RE:GEN, New College Durham and all my work peers has been exceptional. I would recommend the RE:GEN Academy because it is a perfect introduction into the construction industry.

I would definitely recommend the academy. It’s an opportunity you’re not going to get again. I am 19 and I’ve never had an opportunity like this before!

The job is quite varied, some days we’ll be on live sites conducting surveys and others I'll be knocking doors to do kitchen and bathroom surveys. There’s constant support, which is a great comfort because there is a lot of challenges early on and a lot of information to digest. Scott, the Academy Coach is in touch and meets with us regularly, to offer us support and help us manage our development.
