RE:GEN North East is proud to announce the successful award of a second contract with Darlington Borough Council to deliver energy efficiency works to 130 homes.
The £3.2 million contract will look to upgrade council homes across the Lascelles, Parkside, and Red Hall areas of the town.
Funded through the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Wave 2, supported by matched funding from the council, the works will include external wall insulation with render finish to match existing properties, brick print and cladding, ventilation works to roofs, installation of external doors, low energy lighting, enabling works for external wall insulation, including fencing, paving, and roof alterations and loft insulation.
The new contract follows a successful six-month scheme in which Darlington Borough Council, in partnership with RE:GEN North East, carried out repointing works and lintel replacement on more than 50 of its homes.
Jonathan Horner, managing director of REGEN North East, said: “We are delighted to be working with the team at Darlington Borough Council once again.
“Our purpose is to enhance lives through safe, sustainable social housing generation. A safe and warm home is vital for everyone, and we are proud to play our part in improving homes across the Darlington area.”
As part of delivering its climate change strategy, the council has continued to bid for funding and was delighted to have been among those to benefit from the SHDF Wave 2 programme, and the work once again demonstrates the council’s commitment to achieving its net carbon zero targets.
Cllr Matthew Roche, the council’s cabinet member for health and housing, said: “I am delighted that we are working with RE:GEN to continue to improve the energy efficiency of council homes in our borough.
“This work is a key priority, as it will help tenants control their fuel bills and help our efforts to improve the quality of council homes and tackle climate change.”
All works will be conducted using PAS 20230 approved contractors, ensuring that each measure meets the highest standards for quality and efficiency.
