RE:GEN GROUP AWARDED £16m CONTRACT WITH GENTOO

Sunderland based housing association Gentoo Group has recently awarded RE:GEN Group a £16m contract to improve the lives of thousands as part of a major environmental investment programme across the region.

Gentoo believes that by putting people first, they can build great homes and create strong communities. They are focused on delivering an outstanding service to their customers and as a responsible business, pride themselves on inspiring people to make a real difference. North East based regeneration specialists RE:GEN Group, who share in this vision and commitment to the people and communities they serve, will support Gentoo by carrying out a series of external improvement works throughout Sunderland over the course of the next 4 years.

Within the 4 year framework, the works will include a range of external and environmental improvements from: re-roofing to renewal of all rainwater goods, repointing to external facades of dwellings, demolition and refurbishment of chimneys, wall tie replacements, flat roofing works, renewal of door canopies, external decoration and varying works to property boundaries.

The works within Year 1 of the Framework will be split across two separate estates, starting with the Hetton estate, before expanding out to further grouped areas within Sunderland.

Lee Francis, CEO at RE:GEN Group comments:

“Gentoo’s vision to enhance and enrich the local communities in Sunderland is something we are incredibly excited to get behind. RE:GEN Group has come a long way in such a short space of time, so a contract win of this size and scale is a huge credit to our growing team and capabilities. By working together with Gentoo to update the externals of many properties, we’re doing our bit to make daily living that little bit easier for the local residents and communities that we serve.”

Marc Edwards, Director of Asset and Sustainability at Gentoo Group said:

“At Gentoo we believe everyone deserves to live in a good quality, secure home they can be proud of.

“We are delighted to be working with RE:GEN Group over the next four years to help us deliver our investment plan which will see over 1,000 properties benefit from roof replacements and environmental improvements.”

The overall scheme of improvement works is set to commence in April 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
