Spreading Christmas Cheer

Throughout the year, people remain at the heart of everything we do here at RE:GEN, but at Christmas time we always like to do a little bit more.

This time of year often serves as a stark reminder of the disparities we still see throughout our communities. Through our partnership working with social housing providers across the North East, we see and hear of the struggles people continue to face because of the ongoing cost of living crisis and other pressures.

Giving a helping hand to these communities during this time is something we feel really passionate about, and thanks our amazing RE:GEN colleagues and supply chain we’ve been able to do just that!

With more than 500 toy and gift donations made, we’ve been able to spread a little festive cheer for boys and girls aged 0-16+ as well as collecting donations for our elderly neighbours too.

Where did the gifts go?

Working with our five key partners, we wanted to ensure these gifts went to the right people and those most in need.

Here’s who we supported this year:

  • Gentoo Group – donations were focused on our current work across the Pennywell Estate and included the Pennywell Neighbourhood Centre, Pennywell Community Cerntre and the Hope 4 All CIC at St Thomas’s Church.
  • believe housing – supported Durham County Councillor Kathryn Rooney’s present appeal reaching over 200 children identified as needing help this Christmas.
  • Karbon Homes – helped 98 children receive a gift this Christmas as well as more than 100 gifts split across community projects including a local toddler group.
  • Thirteen – supported customers and a range of brilliant organisations including The Cause Hamper Service, The Junction Foundation, Footprints Foundation, The Community Gift, The Teesside Family Foundation, Age UK, Citizens Advice Bureau and The Genesis Project.
  • Bernicia – a PlayStation 5 was donated to a local community group’s Christmas raffle that was won by an incredibly emotional family who’s young son is going to be one happy boy on Christmas morning!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Springs Roofing, Fortify Solutions, Fortify Electrical, The Sekura Group. MRM Solutions, JTL Scaffolding, Keystone North East, JMAC and all at Team RE:GEN who helped, buy, sort, carry and deliver these gifts throughout the region.

By coming together as one community, we can ensure the spirit of Christmas is truly inclusive, reaching everyone who needs a helping hand this year.
